A Quiet 4th

This weekend we headed north to the Central Coast to spend a long weekend with Jake’s parents. This was the first time we were with other people without masks in four months. Jake’s parents were actually the last people we were really with before going into the pandemic when they hosted a family get together for our wedding. Seems both like an eternity ago but also yesterday. Being with people again was strange at first and a tad emotional.

The annual parade was cancelled along with the fireworks, so the crowds were minimal and mostly masked. We spent a lot of time on walks, went on a 20 mile bike ride with Jake’s dad, took a few drives out in the hills, checked in with family who could only be there virtually, watched Hamilton (!!!), played a few rounds of Pandemic (won one, lost one), and ate a lot (!!!) of very good food. A quiet and quite perfect weekend.
